Review & Giveaway: One Week Girlfriend by Monica Murphy

4 Heart Review

Goodreads Summary
New Adult Contemporary Romance

**Mature situations and sexual content - recommended for ages 17+**

Temporary. That one single word best describes my life these last few years. I’m working at a temporary job until I can finally break free. I’m my little brother’s temporary mother since our mom doesn’t give a crap about either of us. And I’m that temporary girl all the guys want to get with because I give it up so easily. According to the rumors, at least.

But now I’m the temporary girlfriend of Drew Callahan, college football legend and all around golden guy. He’s beautiful, sweet—and he’s hiding way more secrets than I am. He’s brought me into this fake life where everyone seems to hate me. And everyone seems to want something from him. The only thing he seems to want though is…

Me.

I don’t know what to believe anymore. All I know is, I think Drew needs me. And I want to be there for him.

Forever.

My Thoughts
As you have probably gathered from the summary for this book, Drew is hiding something. I mean how can he not be! A hunky college football quarterback looking to pay a girl he doesn't even know to be his pretend girlfriend for a week? Yeah something doesn't add up.

Fable...let me just say I love the uniqueness of her name!..is not interested in entertaining Drew's offer. Well at least not until he names the amount he is willing to pay her.  There is no way she can turn this down when she is struggling to make ends meet as it is. But Fable is no fool. She knows early on there is more going on than Drew is willing to disclose. And she is okay with that...for now.

Since this whole relationship is a fake, Drew and Fable work out the details of how they met, how long they have been together, etc. on the 4 hour drive to his parents home. Things are awkward to say the least seeing as how they barely know one another. But Fable is determined to make this work and be the best fake girlfriend she can be! So she comes up with a plan to save Drew if he should need to be rescued for any reason. They will have a safe word. One that can be spoken or he can text when he needs her.

Marshmallow...

As soon as they arrive at his parents home in Carmel, you quickly sense the tension. Fable questions her sanity for agreeing to this and Drew wonders why he so willing dragged an innocent bystander into this mess. As the days passes and we get to see some more of the interactions with Drew and his family, things become increasingly uncomfortable for both him and Fable. At the same time, that seems to push Drew and Fable closer together. Lines begin to blur. They both question the actions of the other. Is this all part of the charade or could there be more going on?

I guessed pretty early on what Drew was hiding. Do not let that fact scare you off though. It is not the only plot twist! And I totally did not see the others coming! This author has taken a story that has been done by many others but twisted it into something fresh and unique. I read this book in ones sitting because I could not stop until I knew what was going to happen! I am going to tell you up front this is another one of those cliff hanger books. So, prepare yourself to be left wanting more...
