Review: The First Last Kiss by Ali Harris

The First Last Kiss
By: Ali Harris

How do you hold on to a love that is slowly slipping away from you?
Can you let go of the past when you know what is in the future?
And how do you cope when you know that every kiss is a countdown to goodbye?

This is the story of a love affair, of Ryan and Molly and how they fell in love and were torn apart. The first time Molly kissed Ryan, she knew they'd be together forever. Six years and thousands of kisses later she's married to the man she loves. But today, when Ryan kisses her, Molly realises how many of them she wasted because the future holds something which neither of them could have ever predicted…

Do me a favour will you? Break a rule today, go crazy, live in the moment. Open your heart. Now open it a little more. Love big, love even bigger. Don’t be afraid to stand up, to shout it out, to be heard. Say I LOVE YOU. Give it what for. Give love what for. For me.

This heartbreaking, amazingly beautiful love story is about stop doing and start being. That's what this book taught me. That's why I loved this book so much.

Ryan and Molly are meant to be together. Even if this book is not told in chronological order, you can feel their connection from the beginning. Molly is not your typical teen and Ryan is the hot football player who can have whoever he wants. But he wants Molly, he really likes her and so he proves her that in more than one occasion. (view spoiler)

But Ryan is not only hot, he’s a special guy. He’s a guy in love who would do ANYTHING for the love of his life, for his Molly.

This is a book about making decisions, about making mistakes, about having doubts and about having regrets. It’s a book that will make you stop and think if you are doing it right or not.

"Loving someone means having the confidence to know that you won't be happy all the time, that they can't make you happy all the time. It's a totally unrealistic expectation"

This book will make you appreciate what you have in your life, you can learn from Molly’s mistakes. Not only Molly makes mistakes, so does Ryan but it doesn’t matter because this book will teach us to stand up and fight as much as you can to get what you want.

It's the memories that stay with us forever, not the stuff that's attached to them.

And this is a book about friendship and family. Sometimes you might think you don’t fit in your family but if you take the time to listen to them, if you give them the attention they need you might realize they are there for you, to hold your hand. Don’t be shy, just take it!

And yes, Ali mentioned this song and I think it fits Molly and her doubts/insecurities so damn well.

When she was just a girl
She expected the world
But it flew away from her reach
So she ran away in her sleep
Dreamed of para- para- paradise
Para- para- paradise
Para- para- paradise
Every time she closed her eyes
Whoa-oh-oh oh-oooh oh-oh-oh

READ. THIS. BOOK! Please!!! If you like heartbreaking stories give it a try because not only the story is stunning, the writing style is even better.

Why didn't I give it 5 stars if I loved this story so much, you ask? First of all, promise you WILL NOT OPEN SPOILERS if you haven't read this book. Don't do it for me, do it for you, because it will ruin this story for you and you deserve to go blind and experience the magic in this story.

ALWAYS REMEMBER HOW UNEXPECTED, HOW MAGICAL, HOW LIFE-CHANGING LOVE IS.
