Blog Tour, Review and Giveaway for Crossing The Line [Battered Hearts #3] by Kele Moon

Crossing the Line

Battered Hearts #3

By: Kele Moon

Wyatt Conner is a hard man. A sixth generation sheriff in his hometown of Garnet. A former MMA fighter. His life is about following the rules and making sure everyone else in Garnet follows them too.

Before life hurt him, Wyatt was different. Love had once blinded him to his upbringing and made him defiant against anyone who tried to separate him from the girl he loved. He easily broke laws to ensure her safety.

When she left it destroyed him.  Now she's back.

Tabitha knew coming home was a mistake, but family obligation demanded it. She wasn’t expecting to run smack into the love of her life the same day she returned.

Despite the danger, Tabitha is powerless against the wild rush of desire that explodes between them the moment she finds herself in Wyatt’s arms again. She needs a second chance too, but she can't risk Wyatt finally discovering the real reason she left.

Even for another taste of true love.

Tabitha knows her haunted past will destroy both of them if Wyatt finds out. What she suffered through was too terrible and it's the one thing that will have him crossing the line for revenge.

We first met Wyatt in Defying The Odds as Clay Powers best friend and the Garnet town Sheriff. He’s a no non sense by the book kind of guy who prefers to keep everyone in his town in line. In Crossing The Line we get to know the man behind the badge.

Thirteen years ago Wyatt lost the love of his life, Tabitha, when she up and left him without so much as a backward glance.

When the book starts Tabitha is back in her small home town of Garnet when she has a run in with the sheriff. Things escalate pretty quickly for these two after that. And soon we are transported back in time where we meet a young Tabitha, Clay and Wyatt.

Kele Moon does an EXCELLENT job as she takes us to the childhood of our hero and heroine. I fell so hard for these two and even Clay, I fell for him allll over again. So much so that these characters are now ingrained in to me after reading this book.

The little peeks at Wyatt in books 1&2 did nothing for the man we meet in Crossing The Line. He may not realize it..but his broken heart slowly starts to mend just from Tabitha’s presence being back in Garnet and so does her heart.
It's almost as if a restoration begins to take place.

'Somewhere along the way Wyatt Conner had been imprinted on her soul. The threads that tied them together were unbreakable and bone deep. No matter how desperately she tried to untangle herself from him, somehow it just ended up pulling them tighter together.' -Tabitha

‘He knew Clay was supposed to be his best friend. It felt like destiny. Just like he knew he was supposed to grow up, be sheriff, and marry Tabitha McMillen.’ - Wyatt

There are no frequent back and forth flashes through time. Moon takes us back then brings us up to date. We get to watch friendships build slowly over time; and we read as Clay rejects Wyatt on sight over an over again simply because of who his father and grandfather are. NOTHING is easy about the friendship with them, watching it form was awesome though.

And then we get to see love bloom when after years of friendship Wyatt finally owns up and vocalizes his feelings for Tab and she for him. And what a sweet love these two have.

‘Wyatt Conner loved red hair. He liked the way it shined in the early morning sun, like the brightest, newest kind of penny. He liked freckles too. He found himself wanting to spend a day trying to count all of them sprinkled over one pert, slightly upturned nose.’ –Young Wyatt

Because of who she is and who he is, Wyatt and Tabitha are forced to hide their relationship from everyone except a few. And that in itself makes for a very entertaining story line as it plays out. By the time these two enter their senior year they have it down to a science even when Wyatt can often be obvious about their relationship.  They enter early adulthood with this secret relationship and then like dominoes the walls they built shutting people out of their personal love life come tumbling down.

One night changes E V E R Y T H I N G. Hence the thirteen year separation..

My Thoughts
I got waaay more than I expected. In my humble opinion this book out shined the first two story wise. I think maybe because we had the chance to grow with the characters, there was no rush it was pure storytelling. I fell head over heels in love with these two characters and Moon even slipped in a little surprise in a flashback which I LOVED. It seemed to help things come full circle; it almost proved that all these characters are meant to be in each other’s lives. I wonder if other readers had that feeling…

Why I gave this 5 stars
Excellent storytelling; the writing pulls you in from start to finish. Excellent characters with personalities that stick to you so much you crave them after putting the book down **clears throat** Tino & Nova. Everyone loves a good lover reunited story and this is just that. And that epilogue
