Review: Maybe Someday by Colleen Hoover

Add to Goodreads:

At twenty-two years old, aspiring musician Sydney Blake has a great life: She’s in college, working a steady job, in love with her wonderful boyfriend, Hunter, and rooming with her good friend, Tori. But everything changes when she discovers Hunter cheating on her with Tori—and she is left trying to decide what to do next.

Sydney becomes captivated by her mysterious neighbor, Ridge Lawson. She can’t take her eyes off him or stop listening to the daily guitar playing he does out on his balcony. She can feel the harmony and vibrations in his music. And there’s something about Sydney that Ridge can’t ignore, either: He seems to have finally found his muse. When their inevitable encounter happens, they soon find themselves needing each other in more ways than one…

Reading a book written by Colleen Hoover is an experience not to be taken lightly.  I am yet to read a book written by her that does not cause me to shed tears.  This is a good thing though because they are not necessarily tears born out of sadness, sometimes they are of happiness, elation and relief.

I guess what I’m saying is that this seriously talented author has a knack at weaving such amazing stories that make you ‘feel’.

It’s difficult to write a review for this story without giving away the key components of the plot so I will lead you into the beginning and leave it to you to discover everything that is great about this wonderful story.

Sydney lives in an apartment with her best friend Tori. She has just found out that her boyfriend of two years, Hunter, has been cheating on her with Tori.  She walks out on them with just a suitcase and having nowhere to go.

Ridge lives in the same apartment complex and offers her a place to stay, along with his other room mates.  Ridge writes songs and music for his brothers band but is going through a writers block at the moment. Sydney loves to write lyrics so she agrees to write for their band.  Sydney and Ridge really click musically and have a unique connection.  As their friendship develops, lines begin to get blurred and words unspoken are being felt by both of them.

The unique thing about this story is that every song they write is real.  Colleen Hoover has collaborated with Griffin Peterson and you can purchase the album that goes along with this book and enjoy the full experience of the wonderful music.

I give this 5++++++ heart beating stars

Review: Sinners at the Alter by Olivia Cunning

Add to Goodreads:

Even Sinners need love...
Sinners at the Altar
includes four complete wedding stories, each about a different member of the rock band Sinners. These novellas are intended to be read after the Sinners on Tour series as each story is an epilogue to a different book in the series and thus riddled with major spoilers for not only individual books, but in some cases, the entire series.

When Sinners tie the knot, things don't always go as planned.

Appetite for Seduction - Epilogue to
Backstage Pass
Lead guitarist Brian Sinclair may have finally won Professor Myrna Evans heart and her consent to wed, but being part of a high-maintenance band might just ruin his long-anticipated wedding day and steamy wedding night. Will the couple ever find a moment's peace or are some things more important than a night of uninhibited love-making?

Sweet Love of Mine - Epilogue to
Wicked Beat
Drummer Eric Sticks is determined to marry sweet and sassy soundboard operator, Rebekah Blake, on the spur of the moment. But can he really offer the love of his life the wedding of her dreams in a small, unplanned ceremony? And can Rebekah offer Eric the one thing missing from his life that never realized he wanted?

Patience - Epilogue to
Rock Hard
Lead singer Sed Lionheart never really wanted a big fancy wedding. He just wanted the girl. But his hot-tempered fiancee, Jessica Chase, has her heart set on a memorable ceremony and she is determined to persist through the aggravation to have the wedding of her dreams. The ceremony turns out to be memorable, all right, but not necessarily in the way they'd planned. Can the stressed-out couple recognize what's really important on their wedding day, or is the honeymoon over before it even begins?

November Rain - Epilogue to
Hot Ticket
Professional dominatrix Aggie "Mistress V" Martin is madly in love with bassist Jace Seymour, but she's not in any real hurry to marry him. She's not really the wife "type". That all changes the moment she lays eyes on the perfect place to say "I do". With more than one obstacle in their path to wedded bliss, will these two ever make it down the aisle or will everything fall apart at the whim of others?

If you are a fan of the Sinners books then you are going to love this.  We are transported back into each couples lives when they are at that special moment of committing to each other for life.

This is a wedding extravaganza all intertwined into the Sinners series so some bits will be familiar if you have read the books.

Brian and Myrna are the first to walk down the aisle (actually there isn't an actual aisle at their wedding!) and these two really know how to do sexy, they are so hot in bed there was steam coming off my kindle screen!

"Just when I think I love you as much as possible, you open your heart to me a little more, and my love expands -  grows - wanting to fill every emptiness inside you" - Brian

Eric & Reb.  I love this couple, they have been through so much together and are so funny.  I really hope they are able to become parents some day because they deserve all the happiness in the world.

"You're my heart and soul , Eric.  I can only hope that I make you half as happy as you make me." - Rebekah

Next up was Jessica and Sed, this couple are a second chance love story and Jessica has her perfect day planned out but things don't always go as planned. You can guarantee that their day will be filled with lots of hot schmexiness, these two are insatiable!

'Eric handed him a pink box that looked like something a three year old would store her beloved plastic princess tiara in.  "What's this?" Sed asked.  "That is where you'll keep your balls once you're married," Eric said. "Jess probably doesn't want to continue keeping them for you."

Jace and Aggie - just wow!  Who knew that Jace could be so mushy and romantic, he is so sweet!  Their wedding is set in an unusual location in the United Kingdom and all sorts of unexplained things happen.

"I promise to love you with all the pieces of my forever.  I just don't know how to love you any less" - Jace

Trey, Reagan & Ethan do feature in these stories but they will be getting their own book.  That is something I can't wait to read.

I really enjoyed being back with the Sinners and look forward to more, I give this 4 sexy stars.

***Dear Tabitha is BOOK TWO in the Forever Family Series. Dear Emily should be read FIRST as this is NOT a standalone book.***

Tabitha was a character who I very much was pulling for in Dear Emily. She had faced so much pain in her life and was once again being forced into a decision that was truly heartbreaking. I was so happy to feel as though she was in a better place by the end, It really seemed as if she had found peace with her past and decisions that were made. But then she opens her door to the one person she never expected to see again.

Alex.

It has been over 2 years since he walked out on her. She had accepted the fact that things were truly over for them. But seeing him again, brings back all those feelings she had worked so hard to bury. As a reader, I was SO conflicted on how I felt about his return. I didn't really get to know Alex in the first book, since he was gone. So, my alliance was to Tabitha and I didn't want him to cause her to have a set back when she had come so far.

At the same time, I felt like it might be therapeutic for her, if only to give her the closure she never really got in their relationship. And then of course there is the matter of Emily. How will he react when he finds out about her and the choices Tabitha made regrading her future? There were so many questions I had at the start!! Thankfully the author answers them all and them some by the end.

Dear Tabitha will take you on the journey of not only her and Alex finding a way to move past decisions that were made and finding a way for each of them to move on, but also a look into their past. You get a better understanding of the lives they lived and how that shaped them into who they are now. It is a emotional roller-coaster to say the least.

A beautiful conclusion to this series! I can't wait to read more from Ms. Stiles, as she has a wonderful gift of creating a story and characters that are so easy for the readers to feel connected to!!

Dylan Mathews grew up in a house that was always filled with good-looking guys. However, with her four protective older brothers, they never stood a chance.

Except for one.

Dylan knew she loved Ben McKenna from the first time she laid eyes on him. When he started sneaking in her room, she thought he felt the same way. But just as their passion ignited, he left for college and never came back.

Until now.

Returning home after 5 years, Ben realizes Dylan has always been the one for him. Can he win back her heart and finally find love under the orange moon?

You can read a sneak peek of the book at iBooks

What a fantastic debut from this author.  Dylan Mathews  grew up in  testosterone laden home with four brothers, one of which is her twin.  She is an budding artist and lives at home with her mum, whilst working part time at the local bar.
Ben McKenna is their neighbour and very much a part of the Mathews family.  Linda Mathews treats him as one of her own sons.  Ben's parents separated when he was young and his mother dealt with it by becoming an alcoholic.  His only constant normality growing up came from the time he spent with the Mathews family.
Dylan fell in love with Ben when she first met him as a child and for her there is no one else.  Ben feels the same way and as a teenage boy  he begins to sneak into her bed each night just to cuddle with Dylan.  They never express their feelings for each other with words though.
"He never needed to tell her anything; she just knew"
Ben is getting ready to head off to University and on their last night together Ben realises how deeply Dylan feels for him but he knows that all the nasty things his mother says to him are true and he is better off leaving what he has with Dylan as it is, she would be better off without him.
"Dylan was more than just beautiful, though.  She was resplendently perfect.  But he could never have her."
Five years later, Ben is returning to have Christmas holidays back in his hometown.  He is surprised to see the beautiful young woman that Dylan has become and all those familiar feelings return, in abundance.  It isn't long before Ben starts crawling back into bed with Dylan and the physical changes in both of them proves too hard to resist.
Dylan and Ben know that if any of her brothers found out about them, it would not go down well.  No one is good enough for their sister and especially not Ben the womanizer.  When Ben's world is rocked by a tragedy be deals with it by pushing away the Mathews family, he knows they all mean well he just needs to sort himself out, he doesn't feel worthy of their love.  His self inflicted loss of the only family he has ever known leaves him feeling completely alone.
"He was his father; his mother had always been right about that.  He was selfish, heartless, and incapable of putting anyone before himself."
Will Ben ever be able to see himself through Dylan's eyes and realise that he can be his own hero and being loved and wanted by someone and giving that back in return is a life he can have with her.
This is a beautiful story about second chance love and I loved it.
I give this 4 orange moon stars.
