Rachel is a student at the San Diego College of Arts & Music, due to money issues she is a Resident Advisor (RA) which solves her accommodation costs. There is another person helping her as her the Academic Mentor (AM) but he is completely unreliable and a douche. It's not long until he no longer works with her and they start looking for a replacement.
Rachel and her bestie Jenna decide to have a girls night out dancing. That night she dances with a really hot guy, they have an instant connection, he is gorgeous and her body tingles just with his closeness to her. The just like that he walks away.
The next day the new AM arrives to move in for the semester and it is hot dancer guy. They decide that if they are going to be working together then they should strict to a strictly friendship arrangement. It isn't long before these two start hanging out a lot and Rachel is definitely feel more for Jake.

These two both have issues though. Jake has a messed up background and doesn't like having relationships with girls. He will sleep with a cute girl but makes no promises and as soon as they start to cling he is out of there. Rachel lost her mother several years ago and worries a lot about her family back home, especially her father.
There is a lot of flirting and attraction going on between Jake & Rachel and he willingly admits that he would love to sleep with her but it would only be a one time thing for him because that is all he wants from girls.
"And the more I see you, the more I realize how good you are. Too good for me," - then his voice drops so quietly that I almost don't hear him. "I'm not good enough." - Jake
When Rachel begins dating a guy the green eyed monster appears and Jake is not happy. Will he be able to put his old issues behind him and take a chance on being happy? Will Rachel be able to finally put her needs and wants first and be there for Jake, someone who he can count on when he needs her most?
This is a really sweet story about growing up, cutting the ties that bind you to your past and creating a new path for yourself.
